I always say music is MAGIC. It can challenge you, change you, empower you, present opportunities, and bring amazing people into your life.

You could even meet the love of your life because of it. That's what happened to me. 🥰 

Here's the story!

In 2008, 23 year old Canadian Lindsay (me!) was traveling in Brazil with a few musical friends. We met an engaged Brazilian couple, and they invited us to sing at their wedding! Little did I know, that wedding would change my life. My friends and I performed three John Legend songs during the ceremony. We sang in three part harmony and it sounded amazing.

After the ceremony I was introduced to Nuni, a Brazilian guy with a big smile. We chatted for a bit (luckily, he was fluent in English!) and he seemed like a nice guy.

During the wedding reception, guests were invited play a song on the stage. As I talked and mingled, I heard a man singing and playing guitar. He had a beautiful voice, and obviously I had to see who it was...

You guessed it. I looked towards the stage and there was Nuni, that guy I just met. Wow! He was good. He was confident. I was impressed. You could say that was the moment I became “interested”. 😉

I was only in Brazil for 2 more weeks, and Nuni and I hung out together as much as possible.

We shared many magical, musical moments, like when he taught me how to play Girl From Ipanema on guitar;

when he made me a CD of his favourite Brazilian songs,

and when we performed our first gig together at a pizza restaurant.

My heart still flutters thinking about those days (we've now been married for 16 years!).

Throughout our marriage, music has been our common interest. We started a successful jazz duo together. We play instruments for fun at home with each other and with friends. We teach our children. I can’t express how much joy music has brought us. Not to mention the connection we feel when we play together. It’s truly magical ✨
